Welcome to the AWI Landing Page!

From Yosemite’s cliffs to Alaska’s bear country, Jerry Jacques lived every day like it might be his last—and sometimes nearly was. No Sequel to Life chronicles the wild flight path of a bush pilot, guide, and adventurer who believed life should be lived to the fullest. With humor, grit, and gut-wrenching honesty, Jerry’s story is a tribute to fearless living and the unpredictable skies of Alaska.

Michael McBride brings these two seemingly disparate yet iconic landscapes together through stories of his lived experiences in both Alaska—his home, and Africa—his muse.

This book follows Idaho wilderness outfitter Steve Zettel, through some of his 45-year Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness (the Frank) journey, and how he got to Idaho and its backcountry. More often than not, Steve takes the humorous route for stories of his life, family, clients and friends, along with his views and commitment to the future of the “Frank.”

In the family swimming pool, nine-year-old Sofia and her chatty best friend, a rabbit named Abby, pretend to be pirates in search of lost treasure: a necklace belonging to Sofia’s mother. Their imagination carries them and their ship, The Wild Strawberry, into deep waters. While on their adventure, they meet all kinds of critters that play a role in their quest for the necklace—a gentle manatee, a large chatty bird, a rat swim team, and even a hungry alligator that threatens to beat them to the treasure. Through the power of a young girl’s imagination, child’s play is transformed into a rollicking high-seas adventure.

When Sofia and her talking rabbit, Abby, arrive for a family beach day, they’re not planning to build sandcastles—they’re on a mission. As Beach Rangers, Captain and Skipper, they patrol the shore in a borrowed toy convertible, ready to protect beachgoers from danger (and maybe snack along the way).

Their first rescue? A daring dash to save Ratena the rat from the clutches of a greedy seagull named Fayleen. But just as the sand settles, a giant sea turtle begs for help: her baby hatchling has vanished in the dunes. What follows is a whirlwind adventure involving a runaway umbrella, a crab with a serious snack attack, and marshmallows flying through the air like confetti. Can two brave rangers—and one speedy dune buggy—save both rat and hatchlings before the tide turns?

After recovering from a head cold, 9-year-old Sofia and her chatty rabbit, Abby, decide to venture into outer space. They’re going to Mars. Abby wants to know if the Red Planet is made of red dirt or hopefully, deliciously filled with red strawberries.

With the help of Sofia’s sister and her toys, the pair lay out a make-believe mission to Mars with stops at the International Space Station and the Moon. As Chomp, the astronaut, Abby struggles to focus on her mission while Sofia, as flight director Hazel, tries to keep their rocket on course.

Relish Chomp’s visit to the Space Station where she nibbles on space veggies and laughs when she does a giant tumble for rabbit-kind onto the Moon’s surface. But danger lurks when the engineering team warns Chomp she may not have enough boost in her boosters to return safely to Earth. It takes a bit of ingenuity and bunny brains to bring the furry astronaut home.

Unlikely characters help a young girl understand the meaning of friendship. In Talking to Spiders, it is the unlikely support of a talking rabbit, spider, and a fairy, that helps a young girl understand the meaning of true friendship.
